Sometimes you trip up over something that’s been there for ages: Today was one of them.
I found if I did something in the Version 2, something cool happened, so of course I tried in in V1.41… It worked!

You all probably know this already, but my normal use in the Navigator is to select zooms (occasionally) or move about the image.

So what’s the tip?

In Grid View, click and hold on the image in the Navigator. The selected image will jump to Loupe View for as long as you hold down the mouse. On release it goes back to Grid View.

A modifier to this is to Command Click (Control Click on PC) on the Navigator. The image will then open into Loupe View.

  1. Hi there, Sean. I’ve been looking at this blog throughout the day. I was trying to find a link I could contact you at, but I didn’t find one, so I’m leaving you this comment instead.

I’m having a hard time understanding Web hosts and the like. What I’d like to do is have a site with my (own domain name) where I can showcase all my photos. There are maybe 1- or 200 photos I have so far, but eventually I’d like the site to be a place where I can refer potential customers to so they can see all my photos and maybe buy prints. I’ve already got a lab to do the printing, so I’m not worried about that. But what do I need to do in order to have a simple yet sleek photo gallery that I can completely customize to suit my liking? Keep in mind that I don’t know the technical terms of things.

It’d be great if you could help me out! You seem to know what you’re talking about in these blogs, so that’s why I’m asking you.

    Thanks!

  2. If you’re in Grid view, double-clicking on an image in the grid will open it in Loupe view. In Loupe view, clicking on the image will zoom in or out, but double-clicking on the image will return to Grid view.

  3. I can’t believe after all this time I’m still learning new features of Lightroom!

A cool tip, thanks Sean, enjoy reading all your posts on the various blogs and forums.

  4. I wondered if you could help me — I’m so confused on sorting — I make a web gallery from a collection and then when I go back to edit it, the order of the photos is always changed. I can’t figure out how to save or control the order. Sometimes I can’t even find the sort tool. Why is it so hard?

  5. This doesn’t work on my 1.4. Perhaps because 2 beta isn’t installed ? I think that some of the functions are written in the same folder so they work for the both. I’m not sure thow…
