Mac file permissions are often the causes of random issues, and can even cause crashing. Lightroom has been lax about permissions, but with more bug reports coming in related to them, Adobe have taken a step to force users to fix the issues before allowing Lightroom to run. It’s a pain for most affected users, but it’s better than crashing.

If you’re affected, you get an Action popup menu (the cog), and can choose ‘Apply to enclosed items’ to solve it. However, this isn’t fixing it for everyone. To help those, Adobe Engineer Simon Chen has written a script to do all the hard work for you.

Go to the Lightroom Feedback forum post and get the script, and the instructions on using it.

Simon does say the issues that have been exposed in Lightroom 6.5 will be fixed in the next update.
