A quick tip for sorting using Survey in Lightroom 3.

The thing that usually catches people out a lot is if you have ‘Show Photos in subfolder’ turned on – it’s in Library menu. Though if you are in the bottom folder as Sean mentions then user sort is possible even if it is enabled. Though I’m not sure if that always was the case.
Cheers for this tip Sean, as I always liked the similar crud free view option that Bridge has offered. I hadn’t noticed it as I have view modes hidden in toolbar as I know the shortcuts.
I don’t know if you’re still monitoring this since it’s a month old. I tried this tip and it doesn’t seem to work the same for me. The screen doesn’t look the same, all of the photos are the same size thumbnails but, most importantly, the thumbnails won’t move around to be re-arranged.
Any ideas why it won’t work for me? I’m using LR 3 on a Windows 7 machine.
Are you in a collection and definitely in Survey view? You can’t sort unless you’re in a collection, or the lowest level folder. This applies across the board in Lightroom.
